The Harrison Struttmann Tragedy What happened? Harrison was two years old in 1998 when he and his mom were sitting on a bench enjoying a view of the Missouri River. Little did they know a two year-old and a three year-old were unattended in a vehicle while their parents stood behind the van talking with relatives. The playing children put the car into gear and sent it careening into the bench, killing Harrison, severely injuring his mother, and changing countless lives forever. Only weeks before the accident a local store owner had warned the toddlers mother not to leave them unattended in a vehicle with the motor running. How You Can Get Involved Two Southern California non-profit organizations have joined together to educate adults. The Los Angeles County Medical Alliance and the Rotary Club of Glendale Sunrise began this project in the spring of 2001. Although the concept originated in New Jersey, these two organizations are taking it to the West coast and beyond.
